I did think of having some system like this back in the alpha days, but I never got around to doing it.
Currently, I've split this type of behaviour into separate nodes; Lerp and Lerp (Simple), for instance, are the same, except that the latter doesn't have inputs for it, it has constants.
So, ideally, this shouldn't require a node switch, it would be nice to be able to type constant values directly into the inputs, like your example at the bottom

This will have to be something that users can control, as I believe this depends on platforms and your OS scroll speed etc.
So yeah, it could be a new setting at some point :)

This is a bit of a tricky thing, because it comes down to - how do we want to handle lightmapping?
Should lightmapping simply always be a replacement for light direction and light color, or should they be separate nodes?

The green/reds are just to indicate what is about to be added and removed, respectively. The light blue highlight is just lines leading to one of your selected nodes
