Scene colour turns grey

When I use 'Scene position' set to Normalized into the UVs of a 'Scene colour' then into Emission all I get is a dark grey. 
Am I doing something wrong?

It depends on what's behind the mesh really. Also, it may not work properly in deferred rendering
