Can't connect nodes together unless they are both visible onscreen

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but because you have to drag node connections together, it is impossible to connect nodes together which cannot be viewed together. This is really unwieldy for larger graphs. Being able to click and drag is great, but it would be nice to be able to tap once and have the connection attached to my mouse until I either click somewhere invalid or click a valid node, thus allowing the middle-mouse controls to stay active.
