I think I got what the issue is now, thanks for the images!
I'll probably do this at some point, though I think I would prefer to not have to. Nested nodes should serve pretty much the same purpose, when that is implemented, I hope
The wire routing is something I will polish and work on every now and then!
It's hard to make a routing system that fits all given occasions, but I do have plans for a more flexible system, which wouldn't share the same issues as the current one.
Routing nodes may be possible, but I think I would prefer to have a system that looks nice without them. Routing nodes seems to me like a way of pushing responsibility of node routing to users, rather than just fixing it myself :)

The PBL system is going to be reworked to fit Unity's upcoming PBL implementation, which means this ultimately depends on if they're going to have a metalness system or not

I do want to add a toggle to reverse alt+LMB and LMB, so that marquee is done with LMB, and camera panning is done with alt+LMB, which is more similar to how Unity handles their viewports
